BioDiscovery speaker - Dr. Toni Kutchan

The BioDiscovery Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Toni Kutchan to UNT for its distinguished speaker series.

Dr. Kutchan is a member of the Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, MO where she is the Oliver M. Langenberg Distinguished Investigator and Vice President for Research.

The title of her presentation is- "Medicines from Plants- A Nexus of Biodiversity and Biotechnology", and it is open to the public.

Toni Kutchan is a leading researcher in the field of plant chemistry, and she will discuss her current interests to develop medicines from plants. Her research efforts to understand the biosynthesis of medicinal natural products could lead to new sources of medications for use against conditions such as dementia and cancer.

Prior to joining the Danforth Center in 2006, Dr. Kutchan spent 20 years researching biochemistry at the University of Munich and the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry in Germany. Toni was elected Fellow of the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2017, and elected to the prestigious German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2010 in recognition of her scientific achievements.
